Can literature change the way the reader interacts with the environment? That is the aim of Vagelis Iliopoulos to accomplish through his new fairy tales, "Eco-Myths", published by Patakis Publications.

To inform and motivate the young readers about the major environmental topics such as climate changes, sea pollution, fires, garbage management and alternative forms of energy. In this way, he hopes to educate tomorrow's citizens and make them environment-conscious ready to protect the environment and the future of theirs and their children's planet.

Along with the fairy tale, there are pedagogical activities in each book designed by Vassiliki Nika.

The fairy tales are combined with the activities to embrace and cover every single environmental issue. As such, the story doesn't become too informative, nor do the activities remind the readers of a school book, but instead they call to the young reader's soul to get informed and take action.

"The Blackbird Demands that the Forest be Saved!", the first book of the series, was presented at the International Book Exhibition of Thessaloniki and was immediately embraced by children, parents and teachers alike. The theme is very contemporary, since it deals with last year's fires.

The illustrations of the book, by the Italian Francesca Cazanti, help the child to identify with the heroes and take action by their side.

The second book of the series, "My name is The Mediterranean sea and I live here no more" will be distributed soon, while the lyrics found in the book will be made into a CD with the music of Costas Thomaides. Preparations have already begun in cities and forests all over Greece, such as in Nafpaktos and Vitina for the presentation of the book.
